The AYSO GU12 PV Strikers got back on the tournament winning track by taking the
first place trophy in the recent Corona Pony Express Tournament. The Strikers
did not lose a game in the tournament, outscoring their opponents 28-1 in a
notoriously difficult tournament. Pictured left to right front row: Isabel
Carr, Kyleigh Follis, Sophia Stenzel, Regan Berger, Heather Robinson and Hannah
Karpin. Back row: Coach Sam Follis, Chantal (Bonnie) Poitras, Molly (Clyde)
Goldstein, Georgia Nelson, Michelle Renslo, Caroline Martin, Lily Goldstein and
Asst. Coach Greg Stenzel. GO STRIKERS!"
The AYSO GU12 PV Strikers took their second tournament crown in a row, going
undefeated in the Santa Ynez Winter Classic. Beautiful blue skies brought so
many PV teams to the tournament in Solvang/Santa Ynez that they may rename it
the 'PV Invitational'. Next stop, the Riverside Locomotion Tournament where the
Strikers are the defending champions from 2011.

Heather Robinson of the AYSO GU12 PV Strikers heads in the winning goal on a
corner kick from Chantal Poitras in the semi-final game against Lompoc in the
Santa Ynez Winter Classic. A "header" for a goal off a corner kick in a U12
match is about as rare as a hole in one. The expression on the faces of the
Lompoc players says it all. The Strikers went on to win the tournament besting
the host Santa Ynez in the final. GO STRIKERS!" |
