What is AYSO EXTRA?
AYSO EXTRA is a program established by AYSO for children who possess the appropriate desire, ability, and skill and want to play soccer at a more competitive level. AYSO EXTRA is an attractive alternative to club soccer programs as it is often less expensive and maintains AYSO core principles including a minimum 50% play rule and positive coaching. PV AYSO, in conjunction with AYSO Section 1 and Area F, has adopted the EXTRA Side-By-Side program. As such, Region 10 has instituted policies (updated on 22nd February 2015) for its EXTRA teams which outline the guidelines for coach and player selection as well as rules for participating in the EXTRA program.

What is AYSO ALLIANCE?
AYSO ALLIANCE is a new part of the AYSO Player Development Pathway. ALLIANCE is a tryout-based program for players who want to play in external competitive gaming circuits (Club soccer) as members of both AYSO and US Youth Soccer or US Club Soccer. The purpose of the AYSO ALLIANCE program is to support the AYSO player development pathway to the highest levels of play. It is an intergral part of the AYSO Club program and potential progression to AYSO United.

Clarification:
EXTRA and ALLIANCE teams will be very similar:

• They will both be AYSO competitive teams formed after tryouts.
• They will both be managed by Region 10 and coached by volunteer coaches from Region 10.
• The will both embody the AYSO 6 Philosophies.
• The overall costs to play in ALLIANCE will be slightly higher than EXTRA but not significantly so.
• The main difference is that EXTRA teams will compete in the EXTRA League (run by AYSO) against other EXTRA teams, whereas ALLIANCE teams will compete in a Club league against non-AYSO club soccer teams.

PV AYSO - EXTRA and ALLIANCE Tryout Dates and Information

2024 EXTRA and ALLIANCE open tryouts will be conducted at Ladera Linda Park per the schedule listed below. In order for your child to participate, you must bring water, cleats, and shin guards (covered with socks) to the tryout. Prospective players may only attend one of the tryout sessions listed below for his/her age group.

Tryouts for Fall 2024 will be hosted on Thursday, February 29th and Saturday March 9th, 2024 at Ladera Linda Park (32201 Forrestal Dr., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275).

NOTE: Registration for the 2024 Fall AYSO program is now open.

1. Walk-ins and in-person registration will NOT be accepted at EXTRA and ALLIANCE tryouts.
2. Prior to February 29, 2024 you must log onto Blue Sombrero/SportsConnect and register your child for Regular Fall 2024 AYSO in order to participate in the EXTRA tryout. For more details on how to register, please see our Fall 2024 Registration page.
3. The registration fee for regular Fall 2024 AYSO is non-refundable after July 31, 2024. If your child is not selected for an EXTRA or ALLIANCE team, s/he will be welcome to participate in the regular Fall 2024 AYSO program.
4. Please complete the brief EXTRA/ALLIANCE Tryout Form prior to February 29, 2024. This EXTRA/ALLIANCE Tryout Form must be completed for each child trying out for EXTRA or ALLIANCE at one of the tryout dates listed below.

REMINDER: All players interested in trying out for PV AYSO EXTRA or ALLIANCE teams must be registered to play in PV AYSO (AYSO Region 10) for the Fall 2024 season. Click here for important registration information, including instructions, fees, and deadlines.
