AYSO requires coaches to be certified to the age level in which they are coaching. PV AYSO Region 10 and AYSO Area 1F offer coaches trainings every Fall for ages up to 19U. For coaches in 6U, 8U, and 10U, coach certification can be achieved online at https://aysou.org. Coach training courses are also offered outside of PV AYSO and can be found by logging into your account at https://aysou.org and searching for the appropriate class.
To ensure safe, fun and fair play, AYSO strongly encourages referees to be certified to the age levels for which they are refereeing. PV AYSO and AYSO Area 1F offer referee training classes before and during the season for referees just starting as well as those looking to upgrade their badges. Referee training courses are also offered outside of PV AYSO and can be found by logging into your account at https://aysou.org and searching for the appropriate class.
AYSO Online Training
AYSO's resource for basic online training. Courses include basic coach and referee training.
**Please note that some courses require a companion field or classroom training before a coach or referee is considered fully certified.**
Safe Haven Training
Before any coach or referee can become fully certified, s/he must be Safe Haven certified. Safe Haven training provides valuable information to protect both players and volunteers.
Parents, players, coaches, and referees are all encouraged to learn more about traumatic brain injuries, including the prevention, identification and treatment of these types of injuries. To assist coaches and referees, AYSO has now integrated Concussion Awareness training into its Safe Haven training. Any coaches or referees who were Safe Haven certified before 2014 are encouraged to retake the Safe Haven training course to become fully aware of the identification and treatment of concussions and other traumatic brain injuries.
